Seaside Garden Cottages

Beautiful Kangaroo Island Accommodation

Wow.... just Wow!

We couldn't have been happier. The house is immaculate. Specious, comfortable and perfectly configured for 2 couples (or 2 families even). Rachel was super helpful with planning tips, advice and nothing was too difficult or too much to ask. Well equipped kitchen, everything you need and more is available, and a great espresso machine to boot. Great location with easy access. You can even walk across the street to your very own "secluded" stretch of beach... you'll never want to leave! I know we didn't!

Amazing facilities

Thank you for a wonderful holiday. The cleanliness, design, decor, and linen and towels etc were top of the class. We all appreciated the effort you have put in to make this a top class property to rent. The added little extras in the pantry also were appreciated. Thank you. Ros

Stunning holiday house that includes all the little extras

We recently spent 3 nights at Seaside Garden Cottages and found the location to be perfect for exploring Kangaroo Island. Only 5 minutes drive from Kingscote and a 20 minute walk along the beachfront path.
The house was one of the best we have ever stayed at. Rachel (host) was so helpful prior to our staying, providing so much information on day trips and suggestions of places we should visit. She had also thought about all the little extras in the house that made our stay that little more special. The house came with a gorgeous garden and we enjoyed fresh figs and limes during our stay. Would highly recommend this house to take your KI experience to the next level

Luxury accommodation with a beautiful garden

 Left on Nov 14, 2020 for a stay in Nov 2020

This property is modern and stylish, with high quality fixtures and fittings. I loved everything about it, such as the beautiful tiled floors, the super-comfy beds, the wonderful water pressure in the shower with adjustable hot water temperature, and the gorgeous deck and garden area with the big leafy tree and grassy area. It was everything the photos promised, and I would stay here again if we ever return to KI, as I cannot imagine anywhere else being better. We enjoyed the location in town rather than being out on a country block like many of the other rentals. But that being said, the beach was a 2-minute walk so it was really the best of both worlds. There was a proper walking/running track along the coast which we used regularly, and the beach was very pretty. The owner of the property, Rachel, was a real joy to interact with. She went above and beyond what was required, and provided lots of useful information about activities and facilities on the island. She had stocked the house with everything that we might need, and this was very much appreciated. I cannot speak highly enough of both Rachel and The Cottage, and would recommend this place to everyone.

Very tasteful, quiet and relaxing

We (four of us - two from Sydney and two visiting friends from the UK) stayed at the Cottage for six nights and this is one of the top two or three rental properties I've stayed in in all my travels. It's very nice not to be in Penneshaw where the ferry comes in, and the rest of the Island is easily reached from "home".
Rachel has done a really lovely job of providing a comfortable and very tasteful place to enjoy everything that KI has to offer, and she is a very friendly and relaxed person to deal with - couldn't be more accommodating and helpful with all our requests and requirements.
I rent out an overseas property myself so have a fairly experienced eye in assessing rental opportunities and it is very hard to find any faults with the Cottage - I'm looking forward to a return visit and would definitely make this my first choice for somewhere to stay.

Amongst the best places we have ever stayed at.

 Close to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island and within walking distance to a beach, Rachel's villa was a perfect location for our family summer holiday. Set in a lovely, fruit tree laden garden, the villa easily accommodated our 9-member family. The place is equipped with everything one could possibly need for the perfect stay: a private rear garden with table tennis, barbeque, dining tables inside and on the front deck easily accommodating a large family. We were there at Christmas and Rachel had thoughtfully provided a fully decorated tree, gifts for the children, sunscreen and delightful snacks. Rachel ranks as a perfect host and we have no reservation in recommending Seaside Garden Cottages for your next holiday.

Welcoming Cottage and fantastic stay

My family and I were lucky enough to stay at this wonderful cottage during our stay on Kangaroo Island. We were only sad we could not stay the whole time as the property was booked. The cottage is wonderfully laid out with bedrooms aplenty - allowing the kids space and us an area to relax. The setting is beautiful with birds that visit each morning. We had bikes and went for rides along the shoreline that is only a short way. We will be back to stay on this wonderful Island and would love to stay in Seaside Garden Cottages again

Great position, just out of town and near the beach

The house was extremely well set out and the decor was excellent. Well catered for everybody including the children. Would recommend this property to anybody.

Fantastic!!

Fidelius_Salzburg, Salzburg

We spent the Christmas holidays in 2017 in the villa and really enjoyed everything. The house is designed very generous, enough space for 10 people, the kitchen is extensively equipped, a barbecue is also outdoors. The fridge has plenty of space, there is a washer and dryer. We could both sit in the dining room or on the porch in a larger group. Everything was perfectly clean, furnished with great attention to detail, and because Christmas was there was also a corresponding decoration inside and out. Everything worked smoothly! We would come more often if only the distance between Austria and Australia were not so far. We must speak Rachel, the hostess, a very special praise. With your energy and helpfulness she has enriched our stay on Kangaroo Iceland enormous, they gave us plenty of tips, such as where to eat what to look at, with which the organizer, we will carry out our night tour to visit the animals, etc. Rachel is simply amazing, they largely contributes to the well-being at the Villa, although we have unfortunately never met in person. Summary in English: Thank you Rachel! We had a fantastic time on Kangaroo Iceland and in the Villa !!

Sean - AirBnB - February 2019

Great place, well thought out. Very short walk to the beach, great when the tide is up, shallow safe waters for the kids to play. Went for a swim after dinner one evening and spotted a few dolphins swimming by. The cottage was very well laid out, with everything you need. My family of 5, plus 2 grandparents were very comfortable, and everyone only had great things to say about the house

Beautiful Accommodation

 Left on Apr 29, 2019 for a stay in Apr 2019

We stayed here on a family holiday to Kangaroo Island and it was perfect! Not only is the Villa amazingly beautiful and spotless it is well set up and we really appreciated all the extra information about things to do, where to eat, what to see provided by Rachel. It felt very homely with books, magazines, games and dvds available and there were basic supplies provided in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting KI.

Great location and wonderful, clean property

 What a great find, by far the nicest place I've ever stayed. The location was great and the property itself is amazing. Beach was just across the road and down a path and it was only a few minutes into town. We actually preferred this part of Kingscote, it was nice and quiet. Very tidy and well maintained, everything worked fine and plenty of information about the Island, appliance instructions, Kingscote, what attractions to see and so forth available. Had a great sleep and everything was really clean, coffee machine came in handy. Glad we chose to stay here and the Cactus café in town and Sunset restaurant were recommended to us by the owner and I'd have to agree that they are both very good dining options on the Island. Would definitely stay here again and in fact wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on Kangaroo Island after being spoilt here.

Relaxing, spacious location near the beach.

Our family visited Seaside Garden Cottages and absolutely loved it. The wife and I both enjoyed sitting outside on the veranda with a glass of wine watching the birds in the garden. This was extremely good value and we highly reccomend visiting here if you have the opportunity

Lovely well equipped accomodation for two families in good location.

 Close to Kingscote, the hosts have thought of everything for your stay including guide of things to do. Comfortable spacious cottage.

well appointed accommodation

Spent 4 nights, very comfortable. Close to shops in Kingscote and 45mins from the ferry. Good suggestions from Rachel as to planning our stay . We really enjoyed our stay on KI.

Award winner ......in waiting!

Wow! What a gem this place was..... from the first time I spoke with Rachel the owner, I had a good feeling about her integrity & hospitality. Never have I seen such attention to detail or struck so many of the little things that make a stay something you will always remember. Beautifully clean & spotless throughout, more than generous range of supplies & nibbles to last a full week, quality furnishings throughout & a well kept garden to supply seasonal fruits included and ample car parking under cover also. Such a nice surprise to find all the personal touches you are rarely afforded, in five star accommodation, are generously included in the pantries & fridge.
Can’t speak highly enough of this operator, I hope they will one day be the recipient of a well deserved tourism award!
(Small suggestion if I may...... a fish cleaning area outside would be awesome for fisherman returning home with dinner)!

Beautiful home with everything we needed

We had an amazing time at The Villa! The house was beautifully presented, it felt luxurious for us and so inviting for our young children too. We visited lots of attractions during our stay - the list Rachel gave us was so helpful as were all the brochures in the house. With three little children, our favourite day was actually a 'home' day. We played games and toys (provided!), and went for a walk (such a quiet part of town). Another day, the boys took a cricket set from the house and had a few hits at KI Brewing. Dudley Wines was also a great recommendation. This property is so well equipped! We had everything we needed, so many extras and our kids were so excited by the little treats left for us in the pantry. Highly recommend - just the break we needed.

Great experience from the moment we booked

Had to relocate our wedding 5 weeks out. Rachel was most helpful and accommodating. We ended booking the 2 cottages and the studio. For a large group, the set up gave us a lot of flexibility. Our guests really enjoyed the cottages and found the decoration and finish to be of very good quality. We will definitely be back and would recommend the place for Family and friend week end away.

Fantastic family accommodation

We stayed at the Villa in July 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The house was beautiful - so clean when we arrived, and the owners had left a very generous set of provisions to get us started. The Villa is extremely comfortable, the kitchen fantastic, and our children loved the range of toys that came with the house. The table tennis set up in the garden was fantastic too. We really appreciated the in depth information the owners provided about things to do on the island, it was a most comprehensive guide and so useful for planning our day trip. The garden is beautiful, and full of sunny nooks to enjoy even in winter. This property really deserves its 5 stars - it was a fantastic base for our Kangaroo Island experience and we couldn't recommend it more highly.

Great family house with plenty of space to spread out

Gorgeous house, we loved the relaxed feel of it and the comfiest beds of our whole trip. Lovely having the beach just across the road and a comfortable walk into Kingscote for dinner. Good base to see the rest of the island.

"Dear Rachel,

It’s hard to find enough superlatives  to describe our stay at your beautiful cottages. Our family couldn’t have found a better place for Gavin and me to celebrate with them on our 60th Anniversary.  From the time we all walked in to our respective cottage it was “oohs and ahs”  coupled with delight as we toured each place. I must mention here how touched we were to see the delightful balloons to welcome us with their special greeting.

There were so many extras in cupboards and fridges which made us all feel so much at home ; the younger generation had great fun deciding who was sleeping where and it all worked out perfectly. Gavin and I had the seclusion of the studio which was ideal for sleeping and breakfast ( though I occasionally wandered over to join the others).

We all loved the gardens , taking great pleasure in naming so many different varieties; many photos were taken, and after our celebratory lunch( which was superb) many of us just sat in the garden relaxing.

We shall remember our stay in your lovely property for years to come, and we are so grateful to our family for “ finding you” and giving us this gift.

Thank you again for everything you did to make this stay so special.

Sincerely, Jenny and Gavin"

An email received from Kathryn February 2020:

Hi Rachel

I just wanted to say thank you. We all had an amazing time on KI. We all loved the accommodation and it suited us perfectly. It was a fabulous run/walk into Kingscote along the coast each morning. The garden, the houses, the little hidden spots for sitting, the amazing thought that had gone into absolutely everything were all faultless. So impressive. We truly loved our stay.

We:

* swam/snorkeled with dolphins and seals

* visited KI wildlife park

* visited the bee place near Kingscote

* visited the lavender farm

* went to Emu Bay, Seal Bay and Vivonne

* bought oysters at the Oyster Farm at American River

* went to Dudley wines for lunch and played golf

* visited the old prison in Kingscote

* went fishing

* shopped in Kingscote

* visited the burnt area along the main roads(glad to see the regeneration)

* went to the races on Thursday (we all had a win)

* saw the army camp at Parndana

* went to KI spirits for gin and spirits

* went to the brewery

* had dinner at the pub

* bought fish and chips

* tried the honey ice cream (yum)

* tried some cafes in Penneshaw

* went to the Friday evening community fair

* climbed the Prospect Hill lookout

* checked out some of the beaches along the way

It was all over too quickly. We still had things we wanted to see and do.

Many many thanks! You had thought of EVERYTHING.

Regards, Kathryn

Don't think twice, book this lovely, well equipped and stylish property. Rachel has set this house up brilliantly if you have young children. We took our baby twins and had everything we needed. Rachel has set this house up beautifully. One of the best equipped houses I've rented and amazing for young children.

TOTALLY AMAZING

More than a home away from home! Impressed is an understatement, when we arrived at Seaside Garden Cottages. The accommodation is so beautifully presented and well stocked with more than you will ever need. From the well equip kitchens right down to all you could need (and sometimes forget) personal toiletries. Even the fridge and pantries were well stocked with goodies. The gardens around the property were in full bloom and beautiful. The beds were so very comfortable too. Rachel was so very helpful from our first inquiry right through booking until we arrived. She even provided us with an itinerary for our stay on the island listing amazing places to visit. Thank you so much, we will be back!!

Absolutely Stunning & Very Luxurious

House was really spacious, clean, big bedrooms and well maintained garden, but what we liked best is that they’ve thought of everything. I can see now why it’s a bit more expensive than some other places, but having stayed in other places on KI, it’s really in a league of its own, so I wouldn’t hesitate in saying that you won’t be disappointed. All the little extras made our stay so easy and enjoyable, the owner had told us we didn’t need to bring much other than our personal stuff and she was right – the whole house was well stocked with lots of things that we haven’t usually found in holiday houses, like oil, flour, clothes washing liquids, glad wrap, paper towel, a whole carton of milk in the fridge, capsules for the coffee maker and then there was also things like extra sets of keys that was good for our big group, spare bbq gas bottle, sunscreen, beach towels, esky, sand toys and cricket set for the kids, the list goes on and on (I think I’ve missed a lot on that list), we really couldn’t believe it. There were lemons, limes and leeks in the garden which we made good use of, but the almonds and figs weren’t quite ripe yet unfortunately so I’ll have to time it a bit better next time. Even the information that they sent us before we arrived was really helpful, things like what’s open when, local restaurants, shop hours etc., we’ve never had that before when we stay somewhere and it made a big difference having something to refer to. Because we stayed in December a Christmas tree, wreath and outside fairy lights were all set up so it felt like an early Christmas holiday, we’re wishing that we had booked for xmas now. They have another house next door too (and maybe even a third I think), which I think would be good if you had a few families on holidays together. We should have stayed longer, when the owner said that you could easily spend 2 weeks on the Island she wasn’t wrong. I can’t thank the owner enough, you said that this is a wonderful place and you’re right

A delightful place to stay

Stayed here from 24/7 - 28/7. The cottage, including gardens were clean, beautiful and well maintained. Close to restaurants, great walking tracks and the beach a short stroll away. Definitely a wonderful place to stay, highly recommended.

beautifully presented cottage in a fabulous location

 Left on Apr 17, 2022 for a stay in Apr 2022

Thoughtful and charming host who catered for all requirements. We were amazed by the attention to detail. The kids were thrilled to find toys and we felt very at home and comfortable. The beach was just a short stroll away which was perfect for picnics and trips to watch the sun rise. The cottage is located just 5 minutes from Kingscote. Rachel was so accommodating and responded to queries promptly. Can highly recommend.
