Adventure, Active & Nature Activities on KI

 

• Raptor Domain: hold snakes and ‘Raptors’ including a huge wedge tailed eagle.  Family / group private shows and holdings / photo opportunities are available, perfect for some great Instagram and Facebook posts and special occasions.

• Dolphin Swim with KI Marine Adventures (the 3 hour trip includes the dolphin swim and wet suit).  In the winter months you’ll probably see whales.

• Novelty Golf driving range into the valley at Dudley Winery or a round of golf at Brownlow Golf Club (a simple little country golf club)

• Little Sahara – try tobogganing (fairly easy but tiring) or Sandboarding (which is very hard!).  Best to avoid days where there is any rain as the sand isn’t as slippery.

• Quad Bike Adventures or Fat Bike Tours (KI Outdoor Action)

• Kayaking – either hire or join a tour (KI Outdoor Action)

• Pennington Bay for surfing or snorkelling (usually a coffee van there)

• The new lookout at Mount Thisby (previously Prospect Hill) is challenging and offers a great photo opportunity.

• Go for a bushwalk - there are 13 walking trails still open post-fire:  https://www.walkingsa.org.au/news/walking-trails-open-after-kangaroo-island-bushfires-2020/

• Tidal Pool at Kingscote.  Take along a snorkel and look at the fish, or just go for a swim.

• Fishing charter – worth it just for the photos!  The fish are BIG and plentiful and the scenery is amazing; you’ll often see dolphins and whales (when in season)

• Emu Bay – drive onto the beach, set up a beach shelter, swim and just hang out for the day. 

• Set some crab nets off of the Kingscote or Emu Bay jetty.  The big spider crabs aren’t worth eating, but lots of fun to catch!

• Fish for Bream at Chapman River: easy to catch the little ones, the bigger ones are harder but still a fun way to spend a few hours!
